Current Event, due October 8

I truly am glad with my choice of major. The industry is growing and that's a good thing for almost anyone coming out of college with a technology related degree. I realized how blessed I am after going to the career fair. It is a relief to know that there are job openings and many companies are hiring directly out of college. I've seen many people struggle to get a job out of college and I am glad that my skill set is currently in demand. After working as a software developer during the summer, I can't wait to jump into the industry. I really want to start gaining experience and learning the skills most needed by companies right now. I'm ready to finish school and start contributing to the evolving industry.

  1. As someone who has now worked full time in the industry for a few years, I can say with experience it is a good time to be a programmer. It is not just jobs available, but companies that are doing innovative things culturally and benefits wise to motivate and entice programmers. I work at a company that has a very flat structure, where I have gotten the opportunity to be more than just an employee, but to help make important decisions. If anyone is unsure of what they want to do with career, I highly encourage programming. For anyone already in the industry, keep learning so you get the pick of the best jobs.
